Gorillaz Tour Jacket and Flight Hat

To celebrate their current Humanz World Tour, British band Gorillaz have collaborated with C.P. Company to design limited-edition tour merchandise.
Partnering with G Foot, the band’s own clothing line, C.P. Company x G Foot Gorillaz Tour Jacket and Flight Hat have been created in homage to the band.

C.P. Company designers, Paul Harvey and Alessandro Pungetti designed the pieces in collaboration with Gorillaz co-founders Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett, and G Foot Creative Director Remi Kabaka.Keeping to the Italian brand’s iconic designs and fabrications the C.P. Company x G Foot Gorillaz Tour Jacket is piece dyed and made from exclusive C.P. Company developed Nycra fabric.

Featuring a characteristic Gorillaz ‘Z’ within a red seven-pointed star as an embroidered breast patch and large print across the back, the design includes a bold printed jersey lining depicting Gorillaz band member, Noodle illustrated by Jamie Hewlett.

Prominently featuring the iconic C.P. Company goggles along with the embroidered ‘Z’ Heptagram, the Flight Hat is garment dyed and inspired by one often worn by Noodle and references an archive military design.

"Demons allow us to see our failings, to see our nemeses and nightmares – and it is by confronting these demons that we become more human. The idea of the jacket and flight cap is a protect and survive strategy. We’re trying to make a survival kit – an extra emotional armour to fight the demons without and within. We hope the collaboration enables the wearer to do just that – to be ready, but also to be kinder, more generous and more human"

The G Foot x C.P. Company partnership follows a collaboration between Gorillaz and C.P. to create specially designed full length hooded cloaks for Demon Dayz Festival held at Dreamland Margate in June 2017.

For the opening of Gorillaz’ headline performance, the C.P. Company cloaks were worn by the ‘Cult of Humanz’, a parade of 50 individuals who formed an ominous procession towards the stage before descending and leaving the remaining cloaked figures to be revealed as Damon Albarn and Gorillaz musicians.

“The Gorillaz project came about through conversations I had with Jamie and Damon about their influences for the new album campaign. I devised a concept called "Cult of Humanz", a mythical group of cloaked soldiers who only operate at night.

I had incorporated the C.P. Company aesthetic into my very first designs and concepts, as it made the most obvious collaboration for me for the concept. Jamie and Damon both loved the shape of the Moroccan Jellabah hood, I worked with Paul Harvey and Block 9 to bring these shapes and characters to life.” Harris Elliott, Visual Storyteller.
